Chapter 1 Lessons 1.1-1.5Cut out the counters I sent home in the homework (these are the circles and shares on the red and yellow cardstock). Put the counters into a baggie and find a safe place to keep them when they are not being used.
Lesson 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5: Say the number that is next to the five frame (the row of boxes) and then trace the number. Next, using the counters you have cut out, count that many counters. Put the counters into the five frame (one per box). Moving one counter at a time, draw the counter or something else of your choice in the box. Continue until the page is complete. Lessons 1.2 and 1.4: Count the number of items and write how many there are on the line next to the objects. |
Chapter 1 Lessons 1.6-1.10Lesson 1.6 and 1.10: Count the number of items and write how many there are on the line next to the objects.
Lesson 1.7: You will need to use both red and yellow counters for this lesson. Examples of different ways to make 5 are: 5 red counters and 0 yellow counters 4 red counters and 1 yellow counter 3 red counters and 2 yellow counters 2 red counters and 3 yellow counters 1 red counter and 4 yellow counters 0 red counters and 5 yellow counters Decide which of the above you want to use. Draw what you chose in the five frame. Below the five frame color one of the circles red and the other circle yellow. On the lines next to the circles, write how many of each color you used to make five. Lesson 1.8: Count the number of items and write how many there are on the line next to the objects. At the bottom of the page, write the numbers in order from 1 to 5. Lesson 1.9: Carefully read the problems at the bottom of the page and use the counters to help solve the problems. Write your answer on the line in each box. You can use the blank space in each box to draw a picture to show how you solved the problem or to help solve the problem. |
